The silent companion of trees and greens

Natural Thracean Zeolite is a high-purity clinoptilolite mined and processed in Greece. It holds water and nutrients in the root zone, improves soil structure and cuts input costs — from tomato fields to date-palm groves.

What is zeolite

A crystalline mineral that works like a sponge for soil

Natural Thracean Zeolite is a crystalline, hydrated aluminosilicate produced in Greece under strict EU regulations and quality control, certified for use in organic farming. It contains the highest levels of pure clinoptilolite — one of the most effective zeolite types in agriculture.

Its highly porous structure provides an enormous surface area for cation exchange and water storage. It absorbs large amounts of water and slowly releases it to the roots, improves aeration, captures excess ammonia to prevent root burn, and turns ordinary fertilizer into a long-lasting "superfood" for plants.

Why it works

Benefits in the root zone

Purity and cation exchange capacity (CEC) are the two parameters that define zeolite quality — and where Thracean Zeolite excels.

💧

Water retention

The porous structure absorbs water and releases it gradually, reducing irrigation frequency by up to 30% and keeping moisture where roots need it.

🌱

Nutrient slow-release

High CEC retains nitrogen, potassium, calcium and magnesium, releasing them slowly for steady growth and far less leaching.

🪨

Better soil structure

Loosens clay soils and helps sandy soils hold moisture, improving aeration and encouraging deeper, healthier roots.

🛡️

Protects roots

Absorbs excess ammonia to prevent root burn and keeps beneficial micro-organisms alive in the root zone.

📈

Higher yield & quality

Consistent moisture and nutrients mean larger fruit, fewer deficiencies and a premium-grade harvest.

♻️

Lasting & sustainable

One application stays active in the soil for up to 10 years — economical, safe to store and transport, allowed in organic farming.

In the field

Applications & dosage

Proven methods across four crops. Always do a soil test first — zeolite holds and releases nutrients, it doesn't replace them.

Tomato crops

Tomatoes have high water and nutrient needs. Zeolite meets them while cutting input costs and reducing blossom-end rot.

  • Soil incorporation: mix 1–2 kg/m² into the top 15–20 cm before planting.
  • Row application: 250–500 g per meter of row, worked into the soil.
  • Greenhouse pots: 5–10% zeolite in the mix (0.5–1 kg per 10 L pot).
  • With fertilizer: 1:1 or 1:2 ratio — cuts fertilizer needs by 20–30%.
  • Drip systems: apply around drip lines for steady moisture and less fruit cracking.

Parks, lawns & decorative greens

Greener lawns with less water and fertilizer runoff — ideal for public parks and high-traffic areas.

  • New lawns: mix ~20% by volume into topsoil (≈2 kg/m²) before seeding.
  • Existing lawns: topdress ~1 kg/m², rake in, then water.
  • With fertilizer: 1:1 or 1:2 ratio for slow-release feeding.
  • Trees: 7–10 kg around the base (existing) or at planting depth (15–30 cm).
  • Timing: early spring and late fall; after high-use events to ease compaction.

Olive groves

Lower water, fertilizer and labour costs while improving oil quality — with a long-lasting effect that pays back in 1–2 seasons.

  • Water: 30–50% less irrigation by retaining soil moisture.
  • Fertilizer: 20–30% reduction through nutrient retention.
  • Quality: better fatty-acid and polyphenol profile for premium oil.
  • Longevity: healthier, longer-living trees with fewer pests.
  • Cost: ~$250–500/ha, active up to 10 years.

Date palms

Field-tested in Saudi Arabia: a zeolite ring around each palm holds irrigation water in the root zone and lifts premium-grade yield.

  • Application: incorporate around the base / at planting depth, then irrigate.
  • Result: ~20% less deep-water loss below the root zone.
  • Uniformity: ~70% less sensor-to-sensor moisture variability.
  • Yield: higher premium and grade output (see case study).

The economics

Savings you can measure

Typical per-hectare reductions from natural zeolite in agriculture, with ROI usually returned within 1–2 growing seasons.

30–50%Water & irrigation
20–30%Fertilizer
10–20%Labour
10–20%Pumping fuel / energy
5–10%Higher yield returns

Example: at $100/ha per month on irrigation, a 30% cut saves ≈ $360/ha each year. Zeolite costs about $250–500/ha and stays active for up to 10 years.

Executive assessment

The Aldka date-palm field study

A controlled, sensor-based comparison in a Saudi date-palm operation framed zeolite as a controlled water buffer — not a flushing input.

~20%

less deep-water movement below the root zone (deep/active ratio 1.187 → 0.947).

~70%

lower sensor-to-sensor variability (spread 0.085 → 0.026) — more uniform watering.

Stable

shift from movement-driven to retention-driven soil, with better buffering capacity.
